DIRECTOR'S MESSAGE

SALAM SEJAHTERA AND SALAM SARAWAK KU SAYANG,

Strategic collaboration with other agencies is necessary to accomplish our mission and vision to transform the livestock industry in Sarawak. The COVID-19 pandemic represents an unprecedented emergency and grave societal threat. It is affecting key sectors that contribute to global food security, nutrition and livelihoods, including the livestock sector.

This year was also the fifth year we were granted independent status as an autonomous institution from Department of Agriculture (DOA) on 25th January 2017.

Therefore, I call on everyone to use these opportunities to work together as a team, helping our colleagues and contemporaries to resolve some outstanding issues regarding disease eradication (African Swine Fever and Rabies), especially in the light World Organisation for Animal Health (WOAH) disease-free status.  We will continue to strengthen, expand and restructure the department in order to have impact on the veterinary services and livestock industry inlign with the state aspiration to become the net exporter of food by 2030.

The department aim to increase its cattle population self sufficiency level and increase contribution to state GDP. Therefore, the new approach is to fasilitate private sectors investment especially on the ruminant, swine, poultry and edible bird nest sector.

As we are moving towards 12th Malaysia Plan, we need to double our effort this year, with programmes and projects we planned and proposed for the 12th Malaysia Plan in order to achieve our mission and vision to become the net exporter by the year 2030.

Last but not least, I would like to congratulate everyone once again for fighting alongside us throughout 2021. Do not stay aside, observe, participate, and create greatness for DVSS in 2022.

"LET'S US CONTINUE TO FIGHT RABIES."

"COLLABORATE, VACCINATE!"

"BERSATU BERUSAHA BERBAKTI"
"AN HONOUR TO SERVE"
